Wailea Activities and Guide to Maui Vacation Rentals
Wailea conjures up images of luxury Maui vacation rentals surrounded by an emerald oasis of world class Maui golf courses and five sparkling Maui beaches. Even when you turn your back to the sea, there’s magnificent beauty to behold with Haleakala rising in the distance. Lower your gaze to street level and the green, quiet and wide tree lined avenues of Wailea welcomes you to one of the most prominent community of Maui resorts in all Hawaii.
Things to do in Wailea
Wailea Coastal Walk – Starting from Keawakapu Beach it quickly becomes an oceanfront boardwalk linking the major Maui resorts. The most interesting part is Wailea Point which is a perfect whale-watching spot in season (November through May).
Evening Entertainment – Willie K performs on Wednesday night at Mulligans on the Blue or plan a night out at The Grand Wailea Resort.
The Shops at Wailea – First Wednesday night of each month is the popular Art Walk. Honolulu Coffee is here too and some of the most elegant boutiques you’ll find on Maui. Enjoy music and dining options in the classic outdoor setting.
For classic Maui golf there’s nothing better than the Wailea Blue Course ranked as one of the top 75 in America by Golf Digest.
Try a robust game of Maui golf on the Wailea Gold Course. This “thinking player’s course” is the most difficult and has spectacular ocean views including Molokini islet.
The Wailea Emerald Course is known for a classic design and jaw dropping views of the ocean and Haleakala. Consistently honored as one of the best for women by Golf Digest. For budget travelers, consider twilight golf rates late in the afternoon which are half the usual fee.
Keawakapu – White sand beach and sandy bottom. Good swimming and fair snorkeling. A beginner’s dive spot off shore.
Mokapu and Ulua – Shoulder to shoulder beaches separated only be a rock outcropping. Perfect for swimming. A good place for Maui snorkeling is at the outcropping separating the beaches. You can also swim out to the first reef for even better viewing.
Wailea Beach – Short but wide beach of pure white sand, Wailea offers good swimming and body surfing, but the snorkeling is only fair.
Polo Beach – Maui snorkeling is best in front of the rocks separating Polo from Wailea Beach making it one of the easiest spots to reach. Good for swimming and sunbathing.
